Terms & Conditions

Pimlico Driving School

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the driving instruction services and related offerings (“Services”) provided by Pimlico Driving School (“we”, “us”, “our”). By enrolling in our driving school, attending lessons, booking tests, or using our Services in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

These Terms should be read alongside any marketing materials, price lists, policies, and other documents referenced herein.

1. Definitions and Interpretation

In these Terms:

  • “Pupil” / “Learner” means the individual receiving driving instruction.

  • “Instructor” means a qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) operating under Pimlico Driving School.

  • “Lesson” means any scheduled driving instruction session.

  • “Package” means a block of hours or courses purchased in advance.

  • “Practical Driving Test Package” refers to the agreed test‑day arrangement.

These Terms apply to all Services supplied by Pimlico Driving School and form the basis of your legal agreement with us.

2. Learner Eligibility and Responsibilities

2.1 Licencing and Legal Requirements

  • Pupil must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with full Personal Independence Payment (PIP)).

  • A valid UK provisional driving licence must be presented before or on the first lesson (except for theory sessions).

  • Before the first driving lesson, pupils must:

  • Pupils holding a valid international licence may take lessons, subject to UK driving regulations (excluding theory lessons).

  • Instructors may refuse lessons where legal eligibility is not confirmed.

2.2 Fitness to Drive

  • Pupils must not attend lessons when under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or impairing substances.

  • Instructors may terminate any lesson immediately if a pupil is deemed unfit to drive.

  • Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in tuition vehicles.

2.3 Behaviour and Conduct

  • Pupils must behave respectfully and constructively at all times.

  • Abusive, aggressive, rude, or disrespectful conduct may result in immediate termination of Services without refund.

  • Punctuality is required for all scheduled lessons.

3. Booking and Lesson Terms

3.1 Booking Procedure

  • All lessons must be booked in advance through an instructor or directly with Pimlico Driving School.

  • Bookings are subject to instructor availability.

  • Pupil details provided at booking must be complete and accurate.

3.2 Lesson Duration

  • The minimum duration for a standard lesson is two hours to ensure effective learning.

  • At the instructor’s discretion, shorter lessons may be permitted for specific circumstances or skill levels.

3.3 Cancellations and Rescheduling

  • A minimum of three (3) working days’ notice is required for cancellations or rescheduling of lessons.

  • Late cancellations will result in the full lesson fee being charged.

  • No refunds are provided for “no shows”.

  • All changes must be communicated directly with the assigned instructor.

4. Payments and Refunds

4.1 Payment Terms

  • Lesson duration and cost are confirmed at booking.

  • All lessons must be paid for at least one week in advance.

  • Accepted payment methods may include:

    • Cash

    • Debit/credit card

    • Other methods agreed in writing.

  • Pimlico Driving School is not liable for payments made directly to instructors if not processed through the official school billing channels.

4.2 Refunds

Refunds are assessed in accordance with these Terms and subject to the cancellation provisions in Section 3. For packages, expiry rules apply (see below).

5. Pick‑Up and Drop‑Off

  • The instructor will collect and return pupils to the agreed address.

  • Pick‑up and drop‑off must be at the same location unless otherwise agreed.

  • Frequent changes of address are not permitted unless permanent.

  • A £15 Congestion Charge Zone fee applies for pick‑up or drop‑off within the London Congestion Zone if the pupil is unable to meet outside that zone.

  • Theory lessons may be conducted face‑to‑face at the office or online, as agreed with the tutor.

6. Packages and Gift Voucher Validity

  • Package validity is from the date of issue:

    • 10‑hour package: 1 month

    • 20‑hour package: 2 months

    • 40‑hour package: 6 months

  • No refunds are issued after the expiry date.

  • Refunds before expiry are subject to a £50 cancellation fee.

7. Vehicle Use and Responsibilities

  • Lessons are conducted in instructor vehicles with dual controls provided by the instructor.

  • Pupils may use their own vehicle if:

    • Fully insured for learner use,

    • Taxed and roadworthy, and

    • Approved by the instructor in advance.

  • Where parking or access restrictions apply, the pupil must arrange parking or agree a suitable meeting point.

  • The instructor may refuse use of a pupil’s vehicle if safety or legal standards are not met.

  • Instructor’s insurance covers incidents only during lessons in the instructor’s vehicle.

  • Pupils are responsible for any traffic offences committed during lessons.

8. Car for the Practical Driving Test

8.1 Test Day Arrangements

  • Preparing for the practical test is a shared responsibility between pupil and instructor.

  • The instructor may refuse to attend the test if the pupil is not ready.

  • Pupils will be notified if a test must be rescheduled.

  • The Test Day Package is £200 (4 hours) and includes:

    • 1.5 hours of driving before the test

    • 1 hour for the test

    • 1–1.5 hours for return time

  • Pupils drive to the test centre; the instructor returns separately.

  • Time beyond the 4‑hour package is charged at the standard hourly rate.

  • All arrangements must be coordinated in advance.

8.2 DVSA Test Cancellation Charges

  • If DVSA cancels the test 3+ days before, no charge applies.

  • If it is cancelled before arrival at the centre, a 50% charge applies.

  • If the pupil arrives at the test centre, a 100% charge applies.

9. Confidentiality and Media Use

  • Instructors and the school do not retain copies of pupils’ driving licences.

  • Pupils must present their licence or provide a DVLA check code at the first lesson.

  • Instructors may take a photo of a pupil upon passing for the school's social media.

  • Pupils must notify the instructor if they do not wish to be photographed or have images shared publicly.

10. Personal Presentation and Hygiene

10.1 Clothing

  • Pupils must wear clean and appropriate clothing.

  • Clothing such as dirty, sweaty, or pet‑hair covered outfits is not permitted.

  • Comfortable attire that does not restrict safe driving is required.

10.2 Footwear

  • Closed‑toe shoes with good grip must be worn.

  • Muddy, unsuitable, or unsafe footwear is prohibited.

11. Data Protection and Privacy

Your personal data is processed and stored in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and pupils may request deletion of their data at any time. The School complies with applicable UK data protection law.

12. Changes, Amendments and Termination

  • Pimlico Driving School may change instructors, lesson times, pricing, or Services with reasonable notice.

  • These Terms may be updated periodically; the latest version published on the website applies.

  • Services may be terminated for breach of Terms, unfit conduct, or safety concerns.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
