Pimlico Driving School – Terms and Conditions​
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Pimlico Driving School’s services. By enrolling in our driving school or using our services, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding.
1. Pupil Responsibilities:
1.1 Licensing & Legal Requirements

Pupils must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old if receiving full Personal Independence Payment (PIP)).
-
A valid UK provisional driving licence must be presented on or before the first lesson (except for theory lessons).
-
Prior to the first lesson, pupils must:
-
Visit gov.uk/view-driving-licence
-
Send the licence check code to their instructor.
-
Pupils with a valid international licence may take lessons, subject to UK driving regulations (except for theory lessons).
-
Instructors may refuse a lesson if the pupil is not legally permitted or fit to drive.
-
Pupils must disclose:
-
Any medical conditions or medications that could impair driving.
-
Any penalty points or restrictions on their licence.
1.2 Fitness to Drive & Safety
-
Pupils must not attend lessons under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substances.
-
Instructors reserve the right to terminate lessons immediately if a pupil is deemed unfit to drive.
-
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in the tuition vehicle.
1.3 Behaviour & Conduct
-
Abusive, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour towards instructors or staff will result in immediate termination of service.

Pupils are expected to:
-
Maintain respectful communication at all times.
-
Ensure punctuality for all scheduled lessons.
2. Booking, Duration & Cancellations of Lessons:
2.1 Booking
-
All lessons must be booked in advance through the instructor or the driving school.
-
Bookings are subject to instructor availability.
2.2 Lesson Duration
-
The minimum duration for each lesson is two hours to ensure that the lesson objectives are effectively met.
-
At the instructor’s discretion, lessons shorter than two hours may be permitted based on the pupil’s individual capability or specific circumstances.
2.3 Cancellations & Rescheduling
-
Minimum 3 working days’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule any lesson.
-
Late cancellations will result in the full lesson fee being charged.
-
No refunds for no shows.
-
All changes must be made directly with the assigned instructor.
3. Payment & Refunds
-
Lesson duration and cost will be confirmed at the time of booking.
-
Pupils must arrive on time to receive the full lesson duration.
-
All payments must be made at least one week in advance.
-
Accepted payment methods include:
-
Cash
-
Debit/credit card
-
Any other agreed-upon method
-
Pimlico Driving School is not liable for payments made directly to instructors.
4. Pick up and Drop Off:
-
Your driving instructor will collect and return you to the agreed address.
-
Pick-up and drop-off must be at the same location unless otherwise agreed by the instructor.
-
Frequent changes to the pick-up/drop-off address are not permitted unless it is a permanent change.
-
Congestion Charge Zone: A £15 fee applies for pick-up or drop-off within the London Congestion Charge Zone, unless you are able to meet outside the zone.
-
Theory lessons are either face to face in Pimlico Driving School office or online as agreed with your tutor.
5. Package & Gift Voucher Validity
-
Packages are valid from the date of issue:
-
10-hour package: 1 month
-
20-hour package: 2 months
-
40-hour package: 6 months
-
No refunds will be issued after the expiry date.
-
Refunds requested before expiry are subject to a £50 cancellation fee.
6. Vehicle Use & Responsibilities
-
Lessons are conducted in dual-controlled vehicles provided by the instructor.
-
Pupils may use their own vehicle, subject to the following:
-
Must be fully insured for learner use
-
Taxed and roadworthy
-
Approved by the instructor in advance
-
If parking restrictions apply, the pupil must arrange parking for the instructor’s car or agree to meet at a suitable location.
-
Instructors may refuse use of a pupil’s vehicle if it fails safety or legal standards.
-
Instructor’s insurance covers incidents only during lessons in the instructor’s vehicle.
-
Pupils are responsible for any traffic offences committed during their lessons.
7. Car for the Practical Driving Test
7.1 Test Day Arrangements
-
Test preparation is a joint responsibility of the pupil and instructor.
-
Instructors may refuse to attend the test if the pupil is not test-ready.
-
Pupils will be notified in advance if the test needs to be rescheduled.
-
Test Day Package – £200 (4 hours) includes:
-
1.5 hours driving before the test
-
1 hour for the driving test
-
1–1.5 hours return time
-
Pupil drives to the test centre; instructor drives back
-
Any time beyond the 4-hour package will be charged at the standard hourly lesson rate.
-
Pupils must coordinate all arrangements in advance with their instructor.
7.2 DVSA Driving Test Cancellation (DVSA rarely cancels test)
-
If DVSA cancels:
-
3+ days before the test: No charge
-
Before arriving at the test centre: 50% charge
-
At the test centre: 100% charge
8. Confidentiality & Media Use
-
Instructors/school do not retain copies of pupils’ driving licences.
-
Pupils must either:
-
Present their licence during the first lesson, or
-
Share a DVLA check code
-
Instructors may take a photo of pupil upon driving test pass for school social media.
-
Pupils must inform the instructor if they:
-
Do not wish to be photographed, or
-
Do not want their image shared publicly
9. Personal Hygiene & Presentation
9.1 Clothing
-
Pupils must wear clean clothing to every lesson to maintain hygiene and reduce odours.
-
Avoid clothing that is:
-
Dirty, sweaty, stained, or covered in pets hair.
-
Remember: The car is shared – leave it clean for the next pupil, as you would expect it for yourself.
-
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate that allows for safe and unrestricted movement.
9.2 Footwear
-
Wear clean, closed-toe shoes with good grip.
-
Sandals, muddy footwear, or inappropriate shoes are not permitted.

Pimlico Driving School – Driving Instructor Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions outline the responsibilities of driving instructors operating under Pimlico Driving School. By providing instruction through the school, all instructors agree to adhere to the following standards:
1. Licensing & Legal Compliance
-
All instructors must hold a valid DVSA-issued Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) licence.
-
Lessons must be delivered in full compliance with UK road traffic laws and DVSA regulations.
-
Pimlico Driving School signage (rooftop signs or door panels) must be clearly displayed on the vehicle during all lessons.
2. Fitness to Drive & Safety
-
Instructors must be physically and mentally fit to drive and teach at all times.
-
A safe and supportive learning environment must be maintained for both the pupil and the general public.
3. Professional Conduct
-
Instructors must behave in a professional, respectful, and non-discriminatory manner at all times.
-
Constructive feedback should be provided regularly to support the pupil’s development.
-
All communication with pupils must be professional, courteous, and timely.
4. Lesson Booking, Cancellations & duration:
-
Instructors must communicate lesson availability clearly and honour all confirmed bookings.
-
If an instructor needs to cancel a lesson, they must:
-
Provide a valid reason;
-
Notify the pupil as soon as possible;
-
Offer a rescheduled lesson promptly.
-
Instructors must arrive punctually and begin & finish lessons on time.
5. Pick up and Drop Off:
-
Driving instructor will collect and return you to the agreed address.
6. Payments & Refunds
-
Instructors are responsible for:
-
Collecting payment on or before the agreed due date;
-
Issuing receipts upon request;
-
Maintaining accurate records of all payments received.
-
Refunds for pre-paid lessons must be processed promptly and in accordance with Pimlico Driving School’s refund policy.
7. Vehicle Standards & Usage
-
Instructors must ensure that their vehicle:
-
Is clean, roadworthy, insured for instruction, and equipped with dual controls;
-
Undergoes regular safety and maintenance checks;
-
Is appropriate for the pupil’s current skill level.
-
Is insured for driving instruction, has valid MOT and its road taxed.
-
Pupils must be educated in the proper use of the vehicle and encouraged to treat the car with care and respect.
-
Instructors must follow best practices to avoid traffic and parking violations. We understand that sometimes it’s unavoidable .
-
Unintentional Vehicle Damage: Any accidental damage caused by the pupil during a lesson will be covered by the driving instructor’s insurance or by the instructor.
8. Use of Vehicle for Practical Driving Tests

Instructors may provide their vehicle for a pupil’s practical driving test only if:
-
The pupil has been assessed and deemed test-ready;
-
The vehicle meets all DVSA test standards and requirements.
9. Personal Presentation & Hygiene
-
Instructors are expected to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and professional appearance at all times.
-
Instructors are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle at all times.
10. Complaint Handling Procedure
At Pimlico Driving School, we have very high quality services, so if you have any complaints or issues with a driving instructor, you may let us know and it will be investigated and will be kept confidential.
11. Data Protection
At Pimlico Driving School, we keep all your data private and confidential. You may at any time contact us if you would like us to delete your data. We will hold all your data according to the Data Protection Act 1998.
12. Changes & Termination

The school reserves the right to change instructors or lesson times with notice.

Terms and Conditions are subject to review and may change with notice to pupils and driving instructors.
